Wolverhampton University competition
The University of Wolverhampton’s Fashion and Textiles department was delighted to be selected by the internationally renowned rug company, Hill and Co to collaborate on their new rug design range.
The ‘live’ student brief set by the company, allows students to experiment with the commercial aspects of their work and actively engage with the challenges of design innovation and technical parameters combined with future market requirements.
Mr Bill Hill, Founder and Managing Director of Hill & Co, along with his in-house Design Team, asked the students to make individual presentations of their ideas and selected a high proportion of the students work for production trials.
This has resulted in a stunning range of rugs which demonstrates the unique and creative talents of the students along with the superb technical abilities of Hill & Co to translate and manufacture products of the very highest quality.
This collaboration is an excellent example of industry investing, nurturing and encouraging young designers to embrace and appreciate the commercial requirements of their market sector. We are very fortunate, particularly in these tough economic times, to have this type of unremitting support from partners such as Hill & Co.
